Basin Blues
The Basin Blues is one of the oldest established clubs in the Valley.  A wide variety of interests and talents among the members.  Always lots of good camaraderie and great training and racing opportunities. Adventist Marathon Clinic
Fred Jusillos headed the Adventist Marathon Clinic group over at the Vallejo Drive Seventh-day Adventist Church in Glendale for many years and just retired, handing the reins to capable fellow program leaders. The program welcomes all levels of runners and walkers and offers training, lectures by sports medicine professionals from Glendale Adventist Medical Center as well as the usual social activities. Los Feliz Flyers
The Flyers are a Running and Adventure club with regularly-scheduled workouts, weekend long-runs, races, and social events. Santa Monica Mountain Goats
The Goats run on different trails in the Santa Monica Mountains on Saturday mornings at 7:30. Their season starts on October and it ends on the 2nd Saturday of June. They are a friendly and relaxed mixed group of runners, hikers, all ages and abilities and they run/walk for time, not distance. Santa Clarita Runners
The Santa Clarita Runners is one of the most active clubs around sponsoring lots of runs and offering training program for marathon runners, camaraderie for all levels and plenty of social activities as well. They meet out in the Santa Clarita Valley north of us. The Saturday Morning Run is the club's traditional gathering place. The run begins at Starbuck's at 7:00 am in the Lowe's center on Bouquet Canyon Road and covers a marked course for distances up to 10 miles. High Desert Runners
Runners' resources out in the High Desert are few and far between, so if you live out that way, be sure to get in touch with this club. The HIGH DESERT RUNNERS is an association of runners from the Antelope Valley (the communities of Lancaster, Palmdale, and Quartz Hill in the High Desert north of Los Angeles, California) and surrounding areas dedicated to running for both its life-long health benefits as well as athletic competition. LA Leggers
The LA Leggers was founded in 1989 as Southern California's original marathon training program. The all volunteer staff will take you through its successful long-distance training program using the run/walk training method developed by Jeff Galloway (founder of the Phidippides chain). Group training beges in late July and culminates in your successful completion of the LA Marathon! The staff provides tremendous support. The pace group leaders really help you learn to run within your self to keep you on target to finishing the marathon comfortably in the time you want to train for. LA Roadrunners
The LA Roadrunners is the official training program for the City of Los Angeles Marathon. As a member you will receive a comprehensive training program to prepare you for the Marathon. The LA Roadrunners meet every Saturday morning at 7AM in Venice at Westminster Avenue School and the walkers meet at the school at 6:45AM. The Ventura Roadrunners meet every Saturday morning at 7:30AM in Ventura at San Buenaventura State Beach. The training program consists of 5 days of training. The LA and Ventura Roadrunners ONLY meet on Saturday, however, the other four days you will train on your own with the schedule that we provide you with. Most Saturdays after group training runs there will be speakers on site to discuss health, exercise, fitness, and other issues related to your training. Coach Pat Connelly is the coach for the runners. Bob Hickey is the walking coach. The program uses LA Marathon veterans as volunteer Pace Group Leaders who ehlp you set the pace and keep you on track toward your goal. Challenge yourself to train for a personal best or train at your comfortable pace. Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Fitness Program
This is a pay for services program aimed at helping individuals be successful at losing weight and keeping it off. They provide weekly education classes, an individualized exercise program, dietary analysis and complete blood laboratory data, one-on-on dietary counseling and fitness evaluation, body fat analysis and metablic rate determination. The program is a 10 week program held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. I have done shoe clinics for them and find the folks running the program to be dedicated and interested in the participants. For infofrmation call Mark Finegan at St. Joseph's at 818-953-4494. LA Marathon Training in the SF Valley
While the LA Roadrunners and the Leggers offer GREAT programs training primarily for LA Marathon, there are quite a few individuals who would like a managed program for LA, but can't make it over to the West side for the Saturday runs. The Long Stride Marathon Training Program run by Heather Cioffi gives you an option now. Heather is a Doctor of Chiropractic with a BS in Exercise and Sports Science. She is an experienced runner with extensive marathon experience. She offers programs that  meet at Balboa Lake in the dam basin - right in our back yard! Train With Coach Pat Connelly
We have known Pat for 30 years. His coaching, and perhaps more importantly, his personal involvement in bettering the lives of youth in Los Angeles is legendary. Club 26.2
Founded by Coaches Robert and Euri Mills, Club 26.2 has coached more than 1000 runners/walkers through various marathons with a phenomenal 99% finish rate. Over 80% of the runners were first time marathoners.  Participants can sign up with one of the charity partners listed on their web site and raise money for the charity and receive the training for free, or they can opt for the non charity route and pay $200 for the program (if you mention Phidippides Encino - a $50 savings off the normal program fee).  These options make it easier for those who find the fund raising levels difficult to reach, but would still like to participate in a structured marathon training program.  For info, go to www.club262.com.

Coach Chuck Foote
Coach Pat Connelly has taken on new responsiblities and has also moved out to Valenica. Coach Chuck Foote has taken over the Tuesday night workouts at Birmingham High (6:00 pm to 7:45 pm). Coach Foote offers you great training expertise for any distance and any level of experience or ability from 5K on up through marathons.  Parking is free at Birmingham and the wondergul all weather track is well lighted for winter running.  Coach Chuck is a great coach to work under and for a modest $25 per month he'll get you into shape for your next event.  You may contact Coach Foote at cfooterun@aol.com.  A fun workout with great camaraderie!
Oak Park Running Club
Jeff Waldberg, RPT (Jeff does the injury screening clinics at our store that many of you have attended), has started a running group that meets at 6:00 pm the second Tuesday of every month at his office at 654 Lindero Canyon Road in Oak Park.  It's a training/fun run so you will get the camaraderie you want, but, no doubt, lots ot training and form tips from Jeff and his staff. Team In Training
Phidippides Encino is proud to have been a part of Team In Training since its founding in 1988. It is the world's largest endurance sport training program, with participants training for marathons, half marathons, triathlons and 100 mile century bike rides. Participants raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which fights leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.  Those who join receive a personalized training program for their chosen event, the support of coaches, mentors and a whole host of support folks, and lodging and airfare to the chosen event.
